Our new shops in Paris have shown us how to make this French classic and we’re now bringing it over to the UK. We’ve made a classic ‘jambon beurre’ with our (British) Wiltshire cured ham and sliced cornichons. You can’t beat simple food, beautifully prepared with high quality ingredients.

This simple combination of Pret Wiltshire-cured ham and sliced free-range egg is served on our white baguette with mustard mayo and a dab of unsalted French butter.

Our smoked salmon is made the traditional way near Inverness in Scotland. The salmon is cured with salt and Demerara sugar, then left to mature and gather flavour for 24 hours. Finally the salmon is smoked with beech and oak, trimmed and carefully sliced to perfection. Served with lashings of soft cheese, thickly sliced cucumber and a splash of Sicilian lemon juice.

Kate’s Cakes still supply us with our carrot cake to the same recipe, which has become famous worldwide. They have outgrown the bedsit though and now bake everything their beautiful bakery filled with lovely cake!

Our miso is made from fermented barley and a cocktail of tasty seaweeds. Ridiculously healthy yes, but we’ve got even more good news. We recently reduced the salt in our miso soup by 30%! (Contains fish sauce.)

Pret’s kibbled rye tortilla spread with a dollop of Greek yoghurt dressing and half an avocado, freshly sliced. We add thickly cut cucumber and tomato, followed by shaved Italian cheese and a sprinkling of toasted pine nuts. We throw in a handful of fresh baby spinach and 5 rather large basil leaves…freshly made in our kitchens (at the back of the shops) every day.

This salad wrap is a wonderful combination of flavours. We coat shredded roast duck in our rich hoisin sauce, made from soy sauce, Chinese five spice and white miso, then add sliced cucumber, red onion, baby leaf spinach and mayonnaise.
